A woman who previously stole from a Yeppoon charity store has faced court again - this time for a theft from one of the town’s bottleshops.
Angela Marie Rolls, 47, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court to stealing.
Police prosecutor Brandon Selic said on July 31, Rolls went to BWS Yeppoon where she put a one-litre bottle of Johnnie Walker Double Black Scotch ($112) and a 700ml bottle of Woodford Reserve Bourbon ($78) underneath her shirt and jacket, and left the store without paying.
Mr Selic said on August 9, police went to Rolls’ residence at Yeppoon and she told them she was banned from this BWS store and “there was no way” it could have been her that stole the alcohol.
She was subsequently charged.
Rolls had a two-page criminal history which included previous dishonesty offences.
She had previously faced the Yeppoon court in March last year where she pleaded guilty to stealing $1650 worth of jewellery from Yeppoon charity store St Vincent de Paul.
During Rolls’ latest court appearance on August 29, the prosecution did not seek restitution.
Solicitor Oscar Millroy said Rolls was currently on Centrelink benefits.
“She does have a relevant history unfortunately,” Mr Millroy said.
“She can’t explain why she did it, and she accepts that it was an error and it was wrong to do.”
During sentencing Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale told Rolls: “Don’t help yourself to other people’s property in future.”
Ms Beckinsale fined Rolls $400 and a conviction was recorded.
