A mother has been banned from a Capricorn Coast bowls club after her blow-up inside the venue spilled out into the carpark where punches were thrown.

Mikayla Penelope Erickson, 28, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on May 9 to public nuisance in the vicinity of a licensed premises.

Police prosecutor Corey O’Connor said Erickson’s offending happened at Yeppoon Bowls Club on the night of March 28 where there were many patrons present.

The court heard that Erickson was sitting with a man at a bar table in the smoker’s area, when they got into a verbal argument.

Mr O’Connor said Erickson used her legs to push the table into the man, then she pushed a glass off the table, causing it to smash on the ground.

She also pushed an ashtray off the table.

The pair left the smoker’s area and the verbal altercation continued “throughout the venue”, the prosecutor said.

They then walked out of the club and once in the front carpark, Erickson started physically attacking the man, throwing “multiple punches” at his head.

Mr O’Connor said Erickson also punched their vehicle and continued to scream at the man, and he left the area “on foot.”

Police were called to the venue and when they arrived, they observed Erickson to be “highly intoxicated”, the court heard.

It was told Erickson had no criminal history.

The prosecution asked for Erickson to be banned from all licensed premises on the Capricorn Coast for 12 months but a self-represented Erickson requested the banning order only apply to Yeppoon Bowls Club.

“I’m extremely embarrassed and remorseful for my actions and it is totally out of character for me,” she told Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale.

“I have no criminal history of any sort - my issue is not with alcohol but rather a combination of issues within my relationship which we have now sought help for.”

Erickson, a mother, said she had years of experience working in hospitality and childcare industries.

Magistrate Beckinsale fined Erickson $500 and no conviction was recorded.

Ms Beckinsale banned Erickson from just Yeppoon Bowls Club for 12 months.
