Emergency crews have rushed to a car fire that left a driver in a life-threatening condition and closed a major highway.

Emergency services have rushed to a vehicle fire that left a driver in a life-threatening condition and closed the Capricorn Highway, west of Emerald.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said they were called at 2.57pm on Tuesday, April 29, with police also dispatched shortly after 3pm.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics were on the scene assessing a patient in a life-threatening condition.
The QFD spokeswoman said crews arrived on the scene at 3.10pm to find the vehicle on fire.
According to a Queensland Police spokesman the vehicle was situated off to the side of the Capricorn Hwy.
Both lanes of the Capricorn Hwy were briefly closed.
