Drink drivers and drug drivers face Yeppoon Magistrates Court

A taxi driver on meth and a Woolworths manager busted driving drunk are among the latest Central Queensland offenders to face court to get their punishments.

The following people pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court for either drink driving or drug driving offences.

DRINK DRIVING

Sean Daniel Connolly, 51

Connolly blew a reading of .143 after police intercepted him driving on James Street, Yeppoon, on July 27.

He pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on August 15 to drink driving.

With no prior history of this sort, Connolly was fined $750 and disqualified from driving for six months.

A traffic conviction was recorded.

Keily blew a reading of .096 after he was intercepted by police on Queen Street, Yeppoon, on July 12.

He pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on August 8 to drink driving.

With a previous similar offence in the past five years, Keily, a manager at Woolworths, was fined $600 and disqualified from driving for three months.

A traffic conviction was recorded.

DRUG DRIVING

Murray James Greany, 44

Greany was caught driving with methamphetamine in his system on Bridge Street, North Rockhampton, on March 30.

He pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on August 8 to drug driving.

With no similar offending in the past five years, Greany, a taxi driver who previously worked as a truck driver, was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Robert Bradley Kemnitz, 35

Kemnitz was caught driving with methamphetamine, cannabis and diazepam in his system when he was involved in a two-vehicle crash on Yeppoon Road, on February 10.

He pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on August 8 to drug driving and driving a defective vehicle.

The court heard the vehicle Kemnitz was driving a car with two bald tyres and had wires exposed.

Solicitor Oscar Millroy said Kemnitz, a construction worker, was “extremely remorseful” for his actions.

With a previous similar offence in the past five years, Kemnitz was fined $1050 and disqualified from driving for four months.

A traffic conviction was recorded.

NO CONVICTION RECORDED

Katy Frances Berkin, 21

P-plater Berkin was caught driving with cannabis in her system on Barmaryee Road, Barmaryee, on June 2.

She pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on August 8 to drug driving.

With no prior offending of this sort, Berkin was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for three months.

No traffic conviction was recorded.
