13 motorists face Biloela Magistrates Court for drug-driving, drink-driving or disqualified driving

One of the offenders was driving a prime mover for work when he was caught with methamphetamines in his system. Other people busted included a bus driver, a solar farm worker, and a man who works for a car dealership. Here are the punishments they each copped.

Eight people have faced a Biloela court in one day for drug-driving offences as police continue to catch an alarming number of motorists breaking road rules.

These 13 people pleaded guilty in Biloela Magistrates Court on April 20 to their offending.

Frederick Jesse Rowe, 39, was caught driving with cannabis in his system at Baralaba on February 17.

The court heard that Rowe, a bus driver who operates his own company at Baralaba, would have to find another driver during his period of licence disqualification.

With no similar offending in the past five years, Rowe was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Dean Slattery, 25, was caught drink-driving on the Dawson Highway at Moura on March 20.

Slattery, who works as an operator at a solar farm in Central Queensland, returned a blood-alcohol reading of .117.

With no history of this sort, Slattery was fined $650 and disqualified from driving for three months.

Jack Frederick Galea, 22, blew a high-range reading of .179 when he was caught drink-driving on Barrett Street, Biloela, on April 3.

Solicitor Madison Kurtz said Galea, who worked at Linemac Motors Biloela, had consumed “at least 12 beers” before driving from a pub.

Ms Kurtz tendered numerous references to the court on behalf of Galea.

With no history of this sort, Galea was fined $1200 and disqualified from driving for six months.

Rebecca Jean Collins, 26, was caught driving while unlicensed on the Dawson Highway at Calliope on October 17 last year.

The court heard that police pulled Collins over for a random breath test when they discovered her driver’s licence had been suspended by the State Penalties Enforcement Registry (SPER) due to a “substantial SPER debt.”

With no offending of this sort on her traffic history, Collins was fined $300 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Michael Jason Lawrence, 47, was driving a prime mover for work when he was caught with methamphetamines in his system at Baralaba on February 17.

The court heard that Lawrence had two previous offences of this kind on his history in the past five years.

He was fined $900 and disqualified from driving for six months.

Katrina Louise Andrews, 45, was caught driving with cannabis in her system on the Dawson Highway at Biloela on January 29.

With no offending of this nature in the past five years, she was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Warren William Hughes, 51, had methamphetamines in his system when he was caught driving on the Leichhardt Highway at Castle Creek, on January 2.

With no history of this kind, Hughes was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

He successfully applied for a work licence.

Robert John Spence, 34, blew a reading of .083 when he was caught drink-driving on the Leichhardt Highway at Banana on January 22.

Spence was fined $500 and disqualified from driving for three months.

He was granted a work licence for his job as a machine operator and labourer.

Arnell Faith Cook, 40, was caught driving with cannabis in her system on Rainbow Street, Biloela, on February 7.

With no similar offending on her traffic history, Cook was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Police caught Quentyn Raven Pinch, 21, driving while he was demerit-point disqualified on the Dawson Highway at Prospect on March 14.

He was fined $450 and disqualified from driving for six months.

Brandan Lee Robinson, 29, had cannabis in his system when he was caught driving on the Dawson Highway at Biloela on February 21.

With no previous offending of this sort, Robinson was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Jeremy Craig Boys, 22, had methamphetamines in his system when he was caught driving on the Dawson Highway at Mount Alma on December 20 last year.

Boys had no previous offending of this kind and was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

Daylen De-Mayne Morgan, 29, was caught driving with cannabis in his system on Gilchrist Street, Moura, on February 8.

Morgan had no offending of this sort on his history in the past five years, was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.
