North Rockhampton State High School has evacuated students and staff to the oval after reports of a fire in the Berserker St school’s science building.

But Queensland Fire Department spokesperson hosed down any suggestion of a fire, explaining three crews are investigating smoke coming out of a building from an exhaust fan.

Emergency services have no reports of any injuries at the school.

They first received the triple-0 call at 8.35am and three crews arrived on scene at 8.40am.

The school posted on social media that the fire “was quickly contained”.

“All students and staff are safe.”

There has been a fire on nearby Sharples St.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said crews attended the incident at 8.20am.

One patient with minor burns was transported in a stable condition to Rockhampton Hospital.

An Education Department spokesperson said all staff and students were safely evacuated to the designated checkpoint area on the oval.

“The incident was managed by emergency services and classes resumed as normal at 10am,” the spokesperson said.
