THE man behind a major development which he says will revolutionise the Kinka Beach has pitched his project to Rockhampton Regional councillors.
Ned Turner plans to turn 172 hectares of land formerly used as a cattle property into a precinct which will see 900 new homes built, along with a school, retail centre, professional centre and child care centre.
The Kinka Shores development would also host a holiday village and caravan park, water park, sports fields and recreational parks.
Almost one third of the site would be retained as a conservation area and revegetated green open space.
Kinka Shores has now reached the home stretch, with only council's permission required.
Mr Turner and his team have received approval from the Department of Environment and Heritage Protection and the Department of Main Roads.
"The existing sewerage and water infrastructure would easily cater for this proposal and we are ready to proceed as soon as we receive the green light from council," Mr Turner said.
"There's already a need for more housing and tourist beds in this region and major mining projects on our doorstep, such as Adani's massive Carmichael Mine in the Galilee Basin, will add to the demand for many years to come.
"I believe Kinka Shores has a great deal to offer the Capricorn Coast and I hope the Rockhampton Regional Council will agree."
