A Rockhampton man had his breakfast interrupted on Friday morning with the news he was $100,000 richer, in the best possible start to his New Year’s Eve.

The man in his 30s won first prize in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw on Thursday night.

He was oblivious to his win until an official from The Lott made contact with him on Friday morning.

“Holy s***!” he responded when told about his windfall.

“That’s awesome! I can do a few things with that.

“I’m just about to have breakfast but that’s incredible news.

“It’s funny, I only buy Lucky Lotteries tickets maybe once or twice a year. I had some spare change so thought I’d put on the ticket. It was a spur of the moment thing, but I’m glad I did.”

While the prize offers the potential for a new home or holiday in the new year, the winner said it was too early in the day to make any firm plans.

“I’ll have to think about it and have breakfast first,” he said.

“Actually, I might start off by going out and buying breakfast.

“What a great way to start 2022!”

The man’s winning entry of four random numbers was purchased online at thelott.com – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

In the 12 months to June 30 2021, 136 Lucky Lotteries first prize and jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $46.09 million.

During this time, the biggest Lucky Lotteries prize was won by a Coolangatta man who scored a Mega Jackpot prize of $9.41 million in May, 2021.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw. As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that determines the jackpot number.

If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the Jackpot Prize is won.

If the jackpot number does not match one of the winning numbers, the Jackpot Prize will climb for the next draw.
