Emergency crews have downgraded an emergency warning as firefighters battle a bushfire near a Central Queensland town.

The Queensland Fire Department had issued a ‘prepare to leave’ warning about 6.25pm today, September 9, about a “large, dangerous” fire burning near Shamrock St in Mount Morgan.

The department had warned residents to follow their bushfire survival plan.

“Firefighters are working to control the fire,” the warning stated.

The warning has since been downgraded and now includes Racecourse Rd, The Mine.

The fire continues to burn near Shamrock St and is moving towards Shamrock St as at about 7.20pm.

The advice-level warning stated residents should stay informed because conditions could change.
