With the 2025 Federal Election fast reaching its conclusion, this publication has checked in with each of the parties running a candidate in the Capricornia electorate to see what each of them has promised exclusively for the region.
Six people have thrown their hat in the ring in the battle for Capricornia, including, in ballot order, Emily Mawson (Australian Labor Party), Stephen Andrew (Trumpet of Patriots), Cheryl Kempton (Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party), Kerri Hislop (Family First), Michelle Landry (LNP) and Mick Jones (The Greens).
The LNP has promised almost $39m in commitments to the region while Labor has promised to expand the Medicare Mental Health Clinic to provide more mental health services as well as upgrade facilities at Rockhampton’s Kele Park, and The Greens have committed $30m to Rockhampton Hospital.
A spokesman for Pauline Hanson’s One Nation Party said they have no specific promises for Capricornia.
A spokeswoman from Family First said they were not able to provide commitments or costings.
Trumpet of Patriots did not respond.
