Police are investigating after a car smashed into a tree and sustained serious damage at Rockhampton on Saturday.

Police are investigating after a car smashed into a tree on a residential Rockhampton Street on Saturday morning.

Emergency services crews were called to the crash just before midday on O’Connell Street, Depot Hill.

There were initial reports that a man and a woman were in the vehicle when it crashed, however it’s understood only the man remained at the scene when police arrived.

A Queensland Police Service spokesman said it appeared there were no other vehicles involved in the crash.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said there were no injuries suffered in the incident.

O’Connell Street does not have a high volume of vehicular traffic and the crash occurred on a corner residential block.

Police investigations are ongoing.
