A Rockhampton company is involved in a $2.2 million contract with the Department of Defence.
Betta Group of Companies, by way of its parent company Orcoda Limited, recently signed a subcontract with Laing O’Rourke to “deliver mechanical services” at Shoalwater Bay.
Betta has 50 staff in Rockhampton and provides, among other things, air conditioning and does high-voltage electrical work; the specifics of the contract, however, are confidential.
The revenue is expected to be earned over 18 months.
Orcoda managing director Geoff Jamieson said he was pleased to be involved in a “major project manoeuvre that’s critical to Defence” and that the contract was a credit to Rockhampton’s Betta Group workers.
“It’s great that Betta have won that contract and local content is so important in these big contracts,” he said.
“I’m really impressed that Laing O’Rourke have chosen Betta to do the job, and [Betta Group general manager] Geoff Williams and his team are probably the best I’ve come across.
“It’s good for Rockhampton and good for Betta, which is great.”
