Linemac Motors to reopen with new owner after car yards shut

The new owner of a Central Qld car business has offered jobs to a number of former staff while receivers have reached out to affected customers of the closed-down yards.

The sale of Linemac Motors in Biloela is expected to be finalised by tomorrow a month after receivers were called in as four car yards belonging to SLB Investments Queensland Pty Ltd shut down across Central Queensland.

Graham Killer, a partner in financial advisory at receivers Grant Thornton, said they were pleased to advise the Linemac Motors Ford and Mitsubishi Biloela dealership had been sold with settlement set for this week.

He said the new owner was planning to reopen the business within days with prospects for some of the former staff to get their jobs back.

“We understand the purchaser has offered employment to a number of previous employees and business is expected to commence trading next week from the existing site,” he said.

SLB Investments Queensland Pty Ltd had also previously traded as Grimshaw Quality Cars with locations in Emerald and Rockhampton.

He said customers affected by the closed businesses located in Rockhampton and Emerald – which were separate to the Biloela dealership sale – can reach out directly to Grant Thornton on linemac@au.gt.com.

The receivers did not issue any further information about the fate of the dealerships in Emerald and Rockhampton or the number of customers who have been financially affected by the closures or the amounts of money involved.

The staff at those business were made redundant when the yards shut in February.
