Broncos star’s twin accused of off-field attack on rival player
The twin brother of a Broncos star has made a big legal call after he he allegedly struck a rival player at a Brisbane bar.

The twin brother of a Broncos star is taking his assault charge to trial, after he was accused of an off-field attack on a rival player.
Zac Maurice Hetherington, 26, was charged with assault in March after he allegedly struck Norths Devils player Brandon Finnegan in a drunken incident at a Brisbane CBD bar.
Hetherington, the twin brother of Broncos star Kobe, currently plays for the Ipswich Jets in the Hostplus Cup.
Defence lawyer Peter Tregenza told Brisbane’s Magistrates’ Court at a case review on Wednesday afternoon that Hetherington had originally been stood down over the incident but had since been reinstated.
Mr Tregenza told the court his client would be taking his single charge of assault occasioning bodily harm to trial.
Prosecutor Aisling Kennedy said the police case would take one day, with five witnesses including police officers expected to give evidence.
The court heard there was still a doctor’s statement and civilian witness statement outstanding.
Magistrate Belinda Merrin set the case down for a two-day trial at Brisbane Magistrates Court starting on October 27.
Hetherington did not attend court in person, and his bail was enlarged.
