The Kid Laroi made a huge promise when he first fronted the Brisbane crowd.
In an almost packed out Brisbane Entertainment Centre, he had a lot to prove.
After having already delivered a hit performance on the Gold Coast, The Kid Laroi told the crowd it was going to be even better.
“Thanks for coming tonight, this is going to be f******* entertaining, do you know how many f******* people are here?” he asked the crowd.
“You guys are a little more lucky than the Gold Coast because you guys have a full production and everything because you get a bit of a better show than the Gold Coast.”
But did he deliver?
The Kid Laroi definitely knows how to hype a crowd. From the moment he got on the stage, he had the audience captivated.
Starting off with his hit, Baby I’m back, from his new album, he had the crowd screaming.
His dance moves were infectious.
He performed some of his best hits, with real standouts including Girls, Without You and Thousand Miles.
One song that had the crowd moved was when he dedicated it to the man who helped put him on the map - Juice WRLD - who died in 2019.
“Before I start this next song, if it wasn’t for this person I made this song with I wouldn’t be here on the stage today,” he said before he started singing Go.
“If it wasn’t for this person, a lot of you guys probably wouldn’t have found out about me.”
Throughout the night there were touching moments from the singer who urged the crowd to “Keep telling each other how much you love and appreciate each other because life is short”.
Even during his slower songs, where he sat down singing Bleed and Heaven, most of the audience were captivated, getting their phones out and putting on their flashlights.
But it didn’t take long for the crowd to get back up. Performing Love Again, screams were audible through the audience.
When he gave the mic to the audience, the crowd finished all his lyrics.
But his second last song was what many in the crowd were waiting for.
It was the reason, some, including myself, even came to the show.
To hear him perform Stay.
The crowd immediately stood up and started singing their lungs out.
As the performance neared the end, he made a confession to the crowd.
“It’s always really scary going on tour, but it’s really scary going on tour where you are from, because it feels like a lot of pressure to extra impress everybody because you don’t want everyone to think you suck at home,” he said.
“I was really nervous before I came out here and I want to say ever since that first song all those nerves went away and now I feel f******* incredible.”
And just as we thought it was all over and the crowd were about to leave - many already leaving.
He shouted, WAIT!
And that’s when he ended on nights like this - getting the crowd even more excited than they were when he sang Stay.
Finishing off the night on a high.
