Queensland students discover they got the perfect ATAR 2021

Two Brisbane schools caught up in a Covid-19 cluster earlier this year have bounced back to deliver the top ATAR results in the state.

Brisbane Grammar School and Brisbane Girls Grammar School saw its students and staff plunged into quarantine during the Indooroopilly cluster outbreak in August, but the enforced home school period hasn’t dampened their senior student results.

More than 79 per cent of BGGS students landed an ATAR of 90 or higher – the equivalent of an OP1-5 in the previous QCE system – with more than 57 per cent recording an ATAR above 95.

Two of their students scored a perfect ATAR of 99.95, with the school recording an average ATAR of 96.25.

Meanwhile at neighbouring BGS, the school was celebrating a plethora of top students.

Remarkable of the 32 Queensland students to attain a perfect ATAR this year, 11 were from BGS.

The school also recorded 69.5 per cent of students receiving an ATAR of 90 or above, with a median ATAR of 95.3.

Other schools to celebrate exceptional results include St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School, St Margaret’s Anglican Girls School, St Joseph’s College Gregory Terrace, Somerville House and Sunshine Coast Grammar School.

Under the new system, students can choose whether to share their ATAR results with their school, so the statistics may not reflect 100 per cent of a school’s cohort.
