Drug dealers are brazenly posting daily “shopping lists” of illicit substances and prescription medications in social media groups for users to buy and have delivered.
The prevalence of the groups – some of which boast thousands of members – has sparked concerns they could be stoking Queensland’s youth crime crisis.
The Sunday Mail has been supplied exclusive screenshots of more than a dozen Facebook groups and messenger chats in which drug dealers post illicit substances and prescription medications available in South East Queensland including costs and delivery details.
Most of the groups have been given inconspicuous names such as “party shop” and “S--t talk”, while others have more brazen names such as “Charlie Rack Rack City Biatch” and “Medis, opiates, benzos, budz”.
A screen recording of the group “SHARD ONLY” shows the vast array of daily posts. They include “Got uncut pearl baggies for sale $450”, “Very High Quality Gear … Pick up Victoria Point drops for petty GC & Brizzy”, “Pm me for prices – South Maclean – will swap stuff for a box of val’s dropped …. lyrica 75mg, endone 5mg, xanax, box of codeine 30mg” and “YOU WANNA GET FRIED ON A FRIDAY HERE’S YOU STUFF … Regents park pick up”.
A concerned mother, who wished to remain anonymous, said she feared these groups could be fuelling Queensland’s youth crime crisis. “It’s absolutely like a shopping list, (drug dealers) post exactly what they’ve got, how much it is, where they’ll deliver it,” she said.
“(It’s) too easy for this younger generation to get everything they need.”
The mother said posts were often made daily but that group members also “requested” drugs in their area.
It is understood members have to be invited into these groups by an associate.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said QPS was “aware” of online channels being used to sell and purchase illicit drugs.
“Removing drugs from Queensland’s streets and targeting and dismantling drug production, trafficking syndicates and individuals involved in the distribution of illicit drugs remains an ongoing priority for the Queensland Police Service,” she said.
“Anyone who wishes to … provide information in relation to the use, supply or trafficking of drugs can do so on the QPS website or by contacting Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
