Police are on the hunt for a group of men after a man woke to a knife-wielding intruder in his room early on Sunday morning.
Police said about 1.35am a number of people in a stolen car drove to a property on the Old Cunningham Highway at Goondiwindi on the Queensland-NSW border, before a man wearing a hoodie and shorts forced his way inside the building holding a knife.
A 42-year-old man who was sleeping inside woke to the commotion and confronted the knife-wielding intruder.
The intruder then cut the man multiple times on his hand and fled the scene.
The group of men left in the same stolen car, a metallic blue Mitsubishi ASX SUV, which police later found burnt and discarded in Boggabilla.
Police are now appealing to anyone who could assist their investigations into the violent overnight burglary, including possible witnesses or those with CCTV footage.
Investigations continue.
