A 34-year-old man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after a hit and run at Alexandra Hills southeast of Brisbane on Saturday night.

The man, from Salisbury, was found with a vehicle of interest on Sunday and charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of possessing utensils or pipes that had been used.

He was charged after a 24-year-old man and 25-year-old Victoria Point woman were struck by a car along Finucane Rd about 11.30pm.

It is believed the incident happened in the Alexandra Hills Hotel car park or garden area.

The woman was taken to hospital in a critical condition but is now in a serious but stable condition.

The man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has been discharged.

Bail was denied and the accused was expected to appear at Cleveland Magistrates Court on Monday.

A white 2004 Mitsubishi Pajero with Queensland registration 015 BE4 was seen leaving the scene around time of the incident, police said.

A witness to the incident said it was “horrifying to watch”.
