From leftover curtain fabric, to race-ready treasure this designer is creating a bespoke look all while being environmentally conscious

A LOVE for timeless fashion and sustainability runs through the stitches of Jeanie Hunter's latest design adventure.

The owner of creative co-working space Lipstick Lane Atelier and Showroom in Noosaville will launch her new race wear label Jean'e Mae this Thursday, June 27.

"I do a more bespoke kind of couture work," Ms Hunter said.

"What that looks like is I use fabric reminisce from the curtain shops to create my own fabrics.

"I do limited-edition pieces and I put a lot of love into creating a bespoke piece."

Conscious about her environmental footprint, Ms Hunter said her design message was to make "magic" out of what you already have.

"I'm aware of saturation of fast fashion and our planet," she said.

"Finding my path as a designer, I'm not using linen or organic cottons, I use what I have so I don't keep consuming more fabrics.

"It's about learning what is in circulation that I can use. I am mindful as a designer not to add to the problem."

Ms Hunter will launch her label at a fundraiser lunch at Sunshine Coast Turf Club.

"My background is in racing fashion and millinery," Ms Hunter said.

"I've done a collection where a piece can be worn as part of an everyday wardrobe or dressed up."

Featuring navys, blacks and creams, Ms Hunter said the collection promoted "timeless elegance and seasonless fashion".

The event will raise money for endED, a Sunshine Coast charity giving hope to people with eating disorders.

Ms Hunter plans to grow the collection, which will be available exclusively at the Lipstick Lane showroom.
