A mum-to-be who tended to 17 marijuana plants at a Belli Park property has faced a Noosa court barefoot and charged with drug production.

Bella Louise Haman, 20, faced the Noosa Magistrates Court on Tuesday, November 1.

She pleaded guilty to producing dangerous drugs after police searched the Belli Park property on September 15.

Police prosecutor Phillip Stephens said the Mango Hill woman was with six other people on the large rural property with several dwellings.

The court was told police searched a small wooden shack and found 17 marijuana seedlings between 4cm and 12cm.

Sergeant Stephens said the soil in the seedling pots were damp when police found them.

The court was told Haman, who appeared in court without shoes on, was staying in the shack and that she told police a friend had given the plants to her when she arrived at the property.

“She stated she watered them a number of times and cared for them,” Sergeant Stephens said.

“She denied knowing what the plants were.”

Duty lawyer Bernard Bradley said Haman was pregnant with her first child and not working because she was suffering from fatigue.

The court was told she had previously worked in Chinese medicine and massage but had no formal qualifications in either.

Mr Bradley said Haman was “reliant on the generosity of others” for her housing and was not receiving any welfare.

The court was told that drug diversion was not an option for a producing dangerous drugs charge.

“It’s a very early plea of guilty,” Mr Bradley said.

He said Haman had no drug criminal history.

Acting Magistrate Raelene Ellis placed Haman on a six-month good behaviour bond.

A conviction was not recorded.
