New footage of a wild brawl at a CFMEU picket line outside Cross River Rail has emerged amid ongoing scrutiny of the union’s hardline methods.

It comes hours after the Cross River Rail Delivery Authority confirmed the Ekka train station could not be opened for the second year due to work days being lost to an ongoing union battle to renegotiate an enterprise bargaining agreement with CPB Contractors.

The footage is from a brawl at the Cross River Rail Dutton Park site in early May.

It shows at least two non-CFMEU aligned workers attempting to push their way through the picket line in order to get to work.

Tensions then erupt, causing a brawl between the significantly outnumbered non-CFMEU workers and those on the picket line.

In the footage the hi-vis shirts of non-CFMEU workers are ripped off as both side throw numerous punches, pushing each other into a temporary chain link fence which collapses onto the road.

The person filming the video at one point is also bowled over in the melee.

No-one was charged as a result of the incident.

CPB Contractors, in the aftermath of the brawl, applied for and was awarded an urgent injunction by the Federal Court to stop the CFMEU blocking access to Cross River Rail.

At the time a CFMEU spokesman accused CPB Contractors of sending labour hire workers to the site to bait protesters.

Two weeks ago the Federal Court also banned CFMEU members from going within 15 metres of the entrance to Cross River Rail sites.

The construction arm of the CFMEU, particularly in New South Wales and Victoria, have come under the spotlight recently over allegations of hardline efforts in securing enterprise bargaining agreements.

The Fair Work Commission President Justice Adam Hartcher on Tuesday revealed additional measures had been put in place for enterprise agreement approval applications in the construction industry.

This includes a dedicated CFMEU construction agreements website.
