A man has died after a horrific head-on crash involving two trucks which resulted in a fiery explosion.

Emergency services rushed to the Gore Highway, 20km east of Millmerran, after reports two trucks who had been travelling in opposite directions had collided about 10.30pm on Sunday night.

It is believed one truck was carrying alcohol and the other truck was carrying grain.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said the truck carrying alcohol caught fire, with the flames spreading to the cab of the other truck that was carrying grain.

QFD crews extricated one person out of the cab of a truck.

The driver of one of the trucks received life threatening injuries and was declared dead at the scene.

The other driver was taken to the Millmeran health service in a stable condition.

At the peak of the incident, QFD had two urban trucks, a 4X4 pumper, a specialty rescue truck, and hazmat support vehicle at the scene.

The fiery crash comes after a woman has been killed and two drivers suffered serious head, chest and leg injuries in a crash at Greenmount, about 20km south of Toowoomba.

Police are appealing to witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam to come forward.
