A Sunshine Beach masseur has been banned from working in the health industry or giving any health services, even if unpaid, while facing a rape charge.

On Monday, the state’s health watchdog announced Cameron Micheal Petrie “is prohibited from providing or supporting any health service, paid or otherwise, in a clinical or non-clinical capacity”.

The ban came 13 days after the police charged the 34-year-old with one count of rape and two counts of sexual assaults.

It is alleged the incidents occurred at a Sunshine Beach business in November 2024.

The ban, announced by the Health Ombudsman, means Petrie must not provide any health services at all.

The order continues to have effect until the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal sets aside the decision or the Health Ombudsman revokes the order.

Petrie, who has worked as a masseur for 15 years, appeared in Maroochydore Magistrates Court last week on the rape, sexual assault and charges of possessing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils.

He pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils, which related to his possession of 7g of marijuana and tobacco found in a kitchen by police at a Sunshine Beach address on December 7, along with drug utensils.

He was given a recognisance order for six months.
