A 63-year-old Sunshine Coast woman has died in a horror three-car crash which left another man trapped in his car.

Caloundra Police Acting Senior Sergeant Matt Grant confirmed the victim of the crash was from the Caloundra South area and it was understood she’d been on her way home when the crash happened about 9pm Tuesday, August 9, 2022.

Sergeant Grant said early indications were that a Toyota Prado travelling northbound on Aura Blvd collided with another vehicle heading southbound.

Sergeant Grant said the Prado then struck a second car which was pushed into a ditch from the impact.

The Prado rolled on its side and the driver was entrapped while the woman in the second vehicle pushed into the ditch died at the scene.

Sergeant Grant said the driver of the Prado was freed and taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, while the woman’s family had been notified of her death.

The Bells Creek Arterial Rd was closed for some time on Tuesday night as Forensic Crash Unit investigators were called to the scene.

Their investigations were ongoing.

The Queensland Ambulance Service advised a teenage male was taken to hospital in a serious condition with pelvic and lower limb injuries while a man and woman in their 20s were assessed for minor injuries but declined treatment or transport.

A child was also assessed by paramedics for minor injuries but didn’t require treatment or transport.

A short time later another major road in the region was cut off after a two-vehicle crash left King St, Buderim completely blocked to traffic.

No one was reported to have been trapped in the two-car crash which happened about 9.40pm Tuesday, but the road was closed off to traffic while the scene was cleared due to the amount of debris over the road.
