Traffic chaos after serious truck crash on Cunningham Highway, Ipswich

A serious multi-vehicle crash involving a truck has sparked traffic chaos on the Cunningham Highway near Ipswich.

A young man has been freed from his vehicle after a serious multi-vehicle truck crash in Ipswich this morning.

Emergency crews rushed to the Cunningham Highway westbound near the intersection with Ipswich Boonah Road at Yamanto after a truck and car collided at 6.20am.

The man, aged in his 20s was freed after initially being trapped in the car.

He was assessed for head injuries and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

The truck driver, a man in his 50s, has been assessed on the scene with significant chest injuries and is in a serious condition.

The collision had blocked the westbound lanes on the highway with motorists advised to find an alternative route.

Traffic delays are expected for morning commuters.
