Man fighting for life, three charged after alleged violent altercation in Surfers Paradise

A young man is fighting for life in hospital and three people have been charged with assault after an alleged violent confrontation in Surfers Paradise overnight.

A young man has sustained life-threatening head injuries and three people have been charged with assault after an alleged violent confrontation in Surfers Paradise overnight.

The 22-year-old man was allegedly confronted by a group of three on Ferny Ave just after 1am with a verbal argument quickly turning physical.

The man, aged in his 20s, sustained life-threatening head injuries and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

His alleged attackers, three NSW men, a 28-year-old, a 25-year-old and 24-year-old, were taken into custody on Ferny Avenue and have been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst in company.

They were ordered to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on October 28.

Last month, another 22-year-old man, Cameron Duce, died in hospital after an alleged coward punch attack in the early hours during a night out at Burleigh Heads.

Mr Duce, who had been leaving the Burleigh entertainment precinct when he was allegedly attacked, spent several days in hospital before his shattered family watched him pass away.

A teenager was charged with unlawful striking causing death over the tragedy.
