A young man has been charged over an alleged armed robbery of a tobacconist in Brisbane’s south.

A man has been charged over the alleged armed robbery of a tobacconist in Brisbane’s south.

A 20-year-old man gained entry into a Lewina St, Sunnybank tobacconist armed with a gel blaster and demanded money from a staff member at around 10pm on Wednesday.

Its understood the man stole a quantity of products and fled the scene on foot before police arrived.

The 24-year-old Tobacco shop employee was not physically injured.

Police arrested a 20-year-old Runcorn man on Woodhaven Court a short time later.

He has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, enter premise with intent to commit and wilful damage.

The man is due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today, July 31
