Woman injured after hit and run crash in Moranbah

A 44-year-old southeast Queensland man has been charged over an alleged hit-and-run in Moranbah, southwest of Mackay, which left a woman with grievous bodily harm.

A 44-year-old man has been charged over an alleged hit-and-run which left a woman seriously injured in Moranbah, southwest of Mackay.

Police will allege the Mango Hill man was driving in a white Toyota Hilux southbound on Belshore St in the late hours of Saturday before he struck a female pedestrian.

“The pedestrian was transported to Moranbah Hospital and was later airlifted to Townsville University Hospital with serious injuries,” says a statement from the Queensland Police Service.

Police arrested the Mango Hill man on Sunday and charged him with driving without due care and attention causing grievous bodily harm.

He is scheduled to appear before Moranbah Magistrates Court on June 16.

“Police would like to thank members of the public for their assistance with this matter,” the QPS stated.

A Townsville Hospital and Health Service spokeswoman said the woman was in a stable condition as of Monday afternoon.
