Toowoomba man arrested in Goldsmith St raid, allegedly possessed cocaine, cannabis

Police will allege they discovered drugs and a firearm following the raid of a Mackay property and arrest of a Toowoomba man.

A 30-year-old man from Toowoomba will be facing a wide variety of charges in court following a raid on a Mackay home.

At 9.30am on August 21, officers executed a search warrant at a Goldsmith St, South Mackay address where they allegedly discovered various quantities of drugs including cannabis and cocaine, among other illegal items.

A bag that appeared to contain cannabis was discovered in the kitchen next to a container with the words ‘Hakuna Matata’ on the lid as well as an item that appeared to be a bong.

Police will also allege that they discovered a handgun at the premises.

Police will allege they discovered drugs in a variety of containers, including this one.

A 30-year-old Toowoomba man was arrested on the property and will be charged with six counts of possessing dangerous drugs, three counts of possessing tainted property, and one count each of unlawful possession of weapons, producing dangerous drugs, possessing/acquiring restricted items, possessing relevant substances or things, possessing anything used in the commission of crime, possessing utensils, and authority required to possess explosives.

The arrest was made by the Mackay Tactical Crime Squad as part of the ongoing Operation Kelly, which targets drug and firearm offenders.

The Toowoomba man was remanded to custody and is due to appear before Mackay Magistrates Court on November 13.
