A monster weekend of Mackay cricket saw some big centuries and some epic bowling spells. Find out who made the cut in our list of the best performances this week

With centuries and hat tricks all in the mix in the weekend that was, find out which performances from first grade right through to fourth grade made the cut in the Mackay Cricket Association.

First grade

Chris Day (Norths) - 118 (92)

Day had a monster innings on Sunday, helping Norths to their massive total with a century in less than 90 balls which included 19 boundaries.

Luke Jackson (Walkerston) - 94 (106), 78 (117)

Jackson starred in both of Walkerston’s matches on the weekend, leading them to a match-winning total on Saturday while keeping their innings afloat on the Sunday.

Russel Counsell (Norths) - 85 (64)

Day’s partner in crime for the day was Counsell, who got within striking distance of a ton of his own, with 15 boundaries to his name for the innings as Norths finished on 6-331.

Chris Mceldowney (Walkerston) - 4/32 (7.3 overs)

Mceldowney produced the goods when his side needed it the most in their win over Brothers, as they bowled them out in the nick of time to get the points.

Cody Filewood (Pioneer Valley) - 51 (85)

Filewood set the tone for the Panthers with a patient and yet nonetheless effective half-century which served as the backbone of their winning innings.

Russell Deguara (Walkerston) - 54 (41)

Walkerston’s second grade star stepped up in a big way in his promotion to first grade, with a quickfire half-century alongside Jackson against Brothers.

Matthew Wicks (Brothers) - 60 (37)

Wicks gave his side half a chance of chasing down Norths’ massive total with a quickfire 60 as the opener.

Kobie Duvenhage (Brothers) - 73 (54)

Duvenhage made up for his rough day with the ball by producing a scintillating knock down the order for Brothers, finishing up with 12 boundaries (four sixes) in a losing effort.

Conor Bryant (Magpies) - 3/32 (7.2 overs)

Bryant played a crucial hand in Magpies knocking over Norths for a subpar total of 127 on Saturday, with his three scalps interspersed between the top, middle and lower order.

Jaxn Sign (Magpies) - 51* (37)

Sign proved to be the driving force behind Magpies chasing down their meagre target in quick fashion on Saturday.

Kellen Powell (Souths) - 90* (94)

Powell’s match-winning knock included a whopping eight sixes as the Sharks got over the line with 14 balls to spare.

Blake Ryan (Magpies) - 65 (62)

Ryan was exceptional with the bat as he led his side to a big enough total to stave off Souths in round 7.

Second grade

Ashley Murphy (Norths) - 85 (100)

Norths’ opener Murphy laid the groundwork for a big innings which would prove far too much for Magpies to overcome.

Jordan Gray-Knight (Walkerston) - 3/10 (5.5 overs)

Gray-Knight was the driving force behind Walkerston rolling Pinnacle for just 78.

Caleb Moss (Souths) - 4/58 (8 overs)

While Souths were ultimately unsuccessful in defeating Sarina, Moss was a shining light with his four-wicket haul despite being somewhat expensive.

Robert Brett (Norths) - 3/15 (7 overs)

One half of the bowling duo that led the charge as they knocked over Magpies for 70.

Ryan Lowrey (Sarina) - 53 (105)

Lowrey was the foundation for Sarina’s successful day out as his half-century ensured they got to a total beyond what Souths could track down.

Matthew Herring (Norths) - 3/10 (5 overs)

Herring was equally as damaging as Brett in fewer overs as their opposition never really got going.

Third grade

Jimmy Green (Walkerston) - 5/28 (7 overs)

Green produced a five-wicket haul which included an awesome hat trick to lift Walkerston Green to victory over Souths.

John Price (Sarina) - 77 (58)

Price had a day out at number four for Sarina, bludgeoning his way to 77 as they got the points against Brothers.

Jack Cook (Sarina) - 5/17 (5.4 overs)

Cook put on a masterclass to knock over Brothers for double digits and earn his side the win.

Blake Hudson (Norths) - 4/11 (5 overs)

While Norths had a rough day out against Walkerston Red, Hudson stood tall as he picked up four wickets to help bowl out Red.

Fourth grade

Peter Maczkowiack (Sarina) - 63 (49)

Maczkowiack played essentially a lone hand in Sarina’s innings as they were bowled out for 108.

Lance Ryan (Walkerston) - 62* (48)

Was the driving force behind Walkerston’s successful run chase against Sarina.

Luke Bourke (Walkerston) - 4/27 (7 overs)

Bourke was a key figure in Walkerston rolling through Sarina on their way to victory.

Ganesh Subramani (Pinnacle) - 4/20 (4 overs)

Subramani produced a strong bowling performance despite his side’s loss to Magpies.
