A Blacks Beach man is facing serious allegations that he created written child abuse material.

He appeared in Mackay Magistrates Court this week for the first time in relation to the charge.

Police allege Caspian Walter Inskip made child exploitation material — namely written material — on December 21, 2023 at Blacks Beach.

The charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years jail for anyone convicted.

Mackay district police charged 25 year old Mr Inskip, who is from the Dalby and Toowoomba regions, with the offence on September 13, 2024.

He appeared in court when the charge was read to him by Magistrate Bronwyn Hartigan.

Mr Inskip, who was represented by Rob Beamish in Mackay Magistrates Court, is on bail.

The court heard because of the nature of the charge this case must be dealt with in the district court.

A brief of evidence was ordered and matters were adjourned to January 2025.

Ms Hartigan said Mr Inskip’s bail was enlarged and his appearance at the next court mention was excused.
