A young school teacher is facing shocking allegations of grooming an underage teen boy.

It is alleged some of the offending occurred in June this year.

It is understood she presented to a police station in Brisbane earlier this month and has since been charged.

Police said as a result a 25-year-old Cleveland woman had been charged with two counts of grooming a child under 16 years in the Mackay region.

Anyone convicted of the charge faces a maximum penalty of five years jail.

She was granted watch house bail with conditions and will face court for the first time in the Brisbane region in August.

It is understood the woman has been stood down in her role as a teacher.

Her teacher’s registration has also been provisionally suspended.

This publication contacted the Department of Education for comment, to which is responded: “The department is unable to comment on matters before the courts.”
