Emergency crews have had a busy weekend with a driver suffering a suspected spinal injury and a further three separate motorcycle crashes across the Mackay Isaac Whitsunday region.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said a crew was called to the scene of a single motorcycle crash along Railway Station Rd at 4.20pm on Sunday.
The spokeswoman said paramedics were treating the rider who had an ankle injury and would likely need transport to hospital.
An hour earlier on Sunday, two vehicles collided along River St in the Mackay CBD.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said a crew was called to the scene as one car was blocking the road with police spending almost an hour trying to track down its owner.
It is understood the car was unattended when it rolled into the other vehicle.
Also at 3.15pm, a QAS crew was tasked to a motorcycle crash along Macguire Rd in Sarina Range.
A spokeswoman said the female rider aged in her 20s was taken to Mackay Base Hospital with head and shoulder injuries.
It was the second motorcycle rider to be taken to the Mackay hospital on Sunday after paramedics attended a separate crash along Mirani Mount Ossa Road at Mount Charlton just before 10am.
A QPS spokeswoman said a bystander helped the 45-year-old male rider until paramedics arrived with a QAS spokeswoman he had suffered injuries to his chest and arm.
The four crashes on Sunday followed a bumper Saturday including a three-vehicle crash in Sarina.
A QPS spokesman said a crew was called to the scene at the intersection of Garrett Rd and Eversleigh Rd in Sarina where a Holden Commodore, a Nissan Pulsar and Toyota HiLux had collided.
The spokesman said early investigations suggested one of the drivers had failed to give way.
A QAS spokeswoman said two Sarina patients including a teenage male and a male aged in his 20s were taken in a stable condition to Mackay Base Hospital.
Then in Habana, emergency crews were called to Mackay Habana Rd near Mdina Dr about 2pm following a two-vehicle crash involving a Holden Commodore and a Hyundai Tucson.
“The Hyundai crashed into a ditch and landed on its roof,” a QPS spokesman said with investigations continuing.
A QAS spokeswoman said they treated three patients at the crash and took one male with suspected spinal injuries to Mackay Base Hospital.
She said the others declined further transport.
And about 12.30am Saturday, paramedics took another male to the same hospital after he suffered back pain following a single-vehicle crash along the Bruce Highway at Mount Ossa.
A QPS spokesman said the male driver, believed to be in his 30s, was in a Toyota HiLux when it crashed on the Murray Creek Bridge.
