Fire crews tackle large shed fire in East Mackay street
A fire completely engulfed a shed in Mackay, with one person taken to hospital after the Monday evening blaze.
Multiple fire crews were called to an East Mackay home where an accidental fire in rubbish spread to a large shed, engulfing the entire structure.
Triple-0 calls were made about 6.15pm Monday when smoke from seen pouring from the 6x6m building.
A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said crews also saw a large plume of smoke on arrival at the Abalone St address where they found the shed engulfed by flames.
Thankfully no other properties were at risk, he said, and the crews immediately got to work extinguishing the fire in about 30 minutes at 6.45pm.
Queensland Ambulance Service took one stable patient with smoke inhalation to Mackay Hospital following the incident.
Ergon Energy isolated the power while the fire crews were at work.
The QFD spokesman said crews remained on site dampening down.
He said the cause of the fire was known and was deemed accidental.
