Reaching speeds of 80km/h, Mackay’s latest water attraction is bound to get your heart racing and your clothes wet.
Nautical By Nature’s Cheeky Bee jet boat launched on Saturday, January 25 taking daredevils seeking a summer thrill up and down the Pioneer River.
Guests can jump on from the Bluewater Quay pontoon, behind Red Dog brewery.
Adrian Plahn, who runs the tours with his wife Louise, feels right at home flying under the Forgan Bridge popping donuts while spraying waves of water on everyone’s head.
It’s the best way to swim without jumping into the croc risk waters.
The boat is small enough for an intimate adventure with close ones but fast enough to get you to clench to the handlebars when Adrian whips the boat into a sharp hook turn.
On top of that, the views gliding along the Pioneer river alone make it worth the ride.
The boat was brought down from Airlie Beach and, according to a previous skipper, it is the “wettest” jet boat in Australia.
Adrian promises high speeds, 360 spins and sudden stops will leave passengers drenched.
“It’s a bit of a rush when you’re that low to the water and there’s a sandbar kust there as you look over the side,” Ms Plahn said.
Ms Plahn said they were choreographing the experience to music to create “the best possible experience” while Adrian trains and practices on the jet boat.
“Hopefully within the next two weeks we’ll be operational out of the river, ” Mr Planh said.
For adults a ride on the Cheeky Bee jet boat will set you back $89, while children’s tickets will cost $79, however kids must be at least six years old and 120cm tall to ride.
