A HARD-WORKING Emerald family man, in his 40s, is laughing all the way to the bank today after the revelation he is the latest Set for Life winner and will receive $20,000 a month for the next 20 years.
His winnings will total $4.8 million.
The man is the twenty-first Set for Life winner nationally since the game began almost two years ago.
The Emerald winner was hard at work Wednesday morning when he received the life-changing phone call from a Golden Casket official, and immediately broke into fits of laughter.
"Wicked! This is a good surprise for the day!" he exclaimed.
"I play Set for Life every week, but I've only won the odd $13 and little prizes, this is great!"
With news of his win still sinking in, the man had yet to decide how he would spend his monthly $20,000 windfall.
But he said he looked forward to enjoying life more knowing he no longer needed to worry about money.
"I reckon I can find something for it," he joked.
"I will probably keep working, but probably not as hard!
"I'll probably pay off the house first up.
"I've always thought about travel and the missus is also keen to travel. I've never seen the snow so I think I might now!"
The newest Set for Life first prize winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his 2-SET QuickSET entry from newsXpress Emerald, in the Emerald Village Shopping Centre.
newsXpress Emerald owner Peter Murphy said the outlet was celebrating selling Queensland's third and the nation's twenty-first Set for Life first prize winning ticket.
"It's fantastic news. Set for Life is picking up in popularity here so it's great to see one of our customers land the first prize," he said.
"We last sold a division one winning ticket about a decade ago when a customer won $730,000, so it was about time we had another win! We were due for it.
"Congratulations to the winner and I hope they enjoy receiving their monthly prize over the next 20 years!"
This is the third Set for Life first prize won in Queensland since Set for Life launched in August 2015.
Across the country, it was the only entry that won first prize in Tuesday night's Set for Life draw 712, which offers a guaranteed first prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years for up to four winners in each draw.
It was a winning night for Queenslanders Tuesday night with another Queenslander taking home a division one prize of $16,666,666.67 in the $50million Oz Lotto draw.
The winning Oz Lotto woman, who purchased her division one winning entry from Carindale in Brisbane, screamed with delight for several minutes after the revelation she had become a multi-millionaire.
The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 712 were 24, 21, 1, 22, 20, 17, 25 and 23, with the bonus numbers 16 and 2.
A Set for Life draw is conducted every night of the week, 365 days each year, and players can start their seven-day Set for Life entry on any day of the week.
To win the first prize in Set for Life, players must correctly choose the eight winning numbers drawn from 37. Additional smaller divisional prizes can be won, from second prize to eighth prize, by selecting a combination of the eight winning numbers and two bonus numbers drawn.
