The family of a young boy who tragically died in hospital after he was pulled unresponsive from a pool is being embraced in condolences from the community.

The four-year-old boy was pulled from the water at a Munbura property, southwest of Mackay, about 5pm Sunday.

A desperate CPR effort to revive him was under way as paramedics arrived at the property and he was taken to Mackay Base Hospital.

He died about 7pm.

Condolences from strangers have flowed on social media as the community mourns the youngster.

“This would be the parents’ worst nightmare,” Christa Buckler wrote.

“God this is heartbreaking news. R. I. P little once,” Julie Mackenzie wrote.

The police spokesman earlier said officers were called to the property and a report would be prepared for the coroner.
