Proserpine Mill crushed 87,162 tonnes of sugar cane in week four, taking the season total to 256,000 tonnes and recording a favourable jump in CCS.
Cane supply manager Tony Marino said the field conditions continued to be favourable for harvesting with “good cane supply to the factory” in the week ending July 24.
“The average weekly CCS jumped to 13.85, maintaining more than half a unit above budget,” Mr Marino said.
“The highest CCS sample was 16.33 from a rake of first ratoon KQ228 in the Kelsey Creek Productivity District.”
A major maintenance day is scheduled for the Proserpine Mill on Wednesday, the first of the season.
Mr Marino has reminded everyone to continue to be aware of the increased cane train presence for the season.
“Our cane trains are working around the clock, seven days a week,” he said.
“Please remember to use your ‘train brain’.”
