An industrial Moranbah business is making moves to upgrade to a bigger and better location – but it’s up to the public vote first.
A community consultation into the relocation of Moranbah Discount Tyres and Mechanical was launched on October 14, with residents welcomed to weigh in until the closing date on November 11.
The Bacon St business owners lodged an application for a Development Permit for Material Change of Use to Isaac Regional Council – proposing to move the industrial shed to a new, larger shed at 166 Goonyella Rd, Moranbah.
The move to the undeveloped 40,000sq m site would have access points at the western frontage.
As part of the application, the Isaac Regional Regional council would need to grant permission for the construction of an industrial shed on the site.
Onsite Rental Group, a national specialist rental equipment business expanding its operations in Moranbah and therefore required a new premises, would use the shed.

Public notification is required because it is a “a non-residential use adjacent to land in the Residential Zone or a residential use.”
The property is in the Moranbah Urban Development Area Development Scheme’s Industry Zone.
