Huge chiller rooms to be built on Paget lot

A FRESH food transport company has successfully applied to build chiller rooms in Paget to store perishable products.
Blenners freights perishable food products from agricultural areas in North Queensland to southern markets and backloads perishable food products and general freight back north.
The company is based in Tully but also has warehouses in Cairns, Mareeba, Innisfail, Townsville, Mackay and Brisbane.
The development is a single building with a total floor area of 2211sq m on a 8859sq m block at 80 Michelmore St in Paget.
About 2086sq m will be chiller rooms to store and distribute perishables, mainly fruit, and the rest will be used to store and distribute general freight.
The remaining 125sq m will be office and support services space.

There would be 30 carparking spaces (including one space for disabled persons) and five spaces for heavy vehicle parking.
“At this time a total of three persons will be engaged in the proposed use,” the application reads.
“However truck drivers additional to the three will be present while loading or unloading.
“The development has been designed to allow for expansion.”
Blenners transports fresh produce, bananas, mangoes and avocados from North Queensland to Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane with return loads to Brisbane and North Queensland.
