DEVELOPERS are shelling out $8 million to develop two new fast food restaurants and a service station in the Northern Beaches.
The site fronts Eimeo Rd next to McDonalds and measures 771sq m. Construction is expected to be complete within a year now plans have been lodged with council.
Development manager Steven Wright said the development had been designed to meet the community needs for increased shopping choice, service providers and convenience.
Mr Wright said he and the team at Stockwell were excited about what the future holds for Northern Beaches Central and were looking forward to being a part of further growth in the region.
"It is great to see the enthusiasm to invest in the Northern Beaches area and in turn securing growth for the community.”
Last year development came to a halt when Stockwell lodged a six-year development application extension with Mackay Regional Council, citing residential and economic downturn in the area.
"Stockwell started developing this centre 16 years ago and both centres have been in sales growth for some time now,” Mr Wright said.
"This proposed development simply comes down to supply and demand; we have land primed and demand in excess.
"(It) is planned as an $8million project with an anticipated opening within 12 months.”
The development will also upgrade the centre's link road and the development of three pad sites to expand the retail capabilities of the existing centres.
Which restaurant and service station chains are yet to be revealed.
