Crime and Corruption Commission reports into former deputy premier Jackie Trad and former public trustee Peter Carne will be released to the public as soon as possible, newly minted Deputy Premier Jarrod Bleijie has vowed.

The LNP has long promised to make those two CCC reports public if elected to government, with Mr Bleijie confirming he would seek a briefing on Monday afternoon to determine how those documents could be published.

“That is a report I want to get into public hands as soon as possible,” Mr Bleijie said.

He also confirmed he would seek a briefing on a secret report into gambling giant Star’s Queen’s Wharf license that examined possible criminal links with one of its business partners.

The probity report into Chow Tai Fook Enterprises was quashed after the Hong Kong group successfully sought a Supreme Court injunction.

The Carne report detailing allegations of misconduct was kept from public view after a major decision in the High Court in September 2023.

The ruling meant the CCC could not make that report, as well as its investigation into whether Ms Trad improperly intervened in the appointment of a senior Treasury official, public.

Major law changes will likely be needed to unshackle the state’s corruption watchdog in order to release those reports and others.

The LNP has vowed to work with the CCC to bolster its reporting functions within the first month of taking office.
