A 51-year-old dad-of-two who was killed in a crash on a major highway northwest of Brisbane is being remembered as a loving family man while a friend raises money for his wife who was also injured in the horror head-on.

Daniel Hall, 51, lost his life when he was travelling eastbound along the D’Aguilar Highway on January 7.

The Glamorgan Vale local was driving a Landcruiser with 49-year-old Linda Hall and their 13-year-old son Steele when it collided with another car about 10.20am near Stony Creek.

Police say a Triton travelling in the opposite direction swerved and smashed into the Landcruiser.

Moreton North Patrol Inspector Paul Ready said initial investigations indicated the Triton had a mechanical fault that caused it to veer into the Landcruiser.

Mr Hall was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 52-year-old Kidman Creek woman who was driving the Triton was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, where she passed away.

Her identity is yet to be confirmed.

Mrs Hall’s friend Rhiannon Burke has started a Go Fund Me page to raise money for Linda after her husband’s passing.

Ms Burke said her and another friend, Latasha Stansbury, were behind the initiative.

Ms Burke has worked with Linda for over 10 years and Ms Stansbury for over 15 years.

“They are honestly just some of the best people you would ever meet,” Ms Burke said.

“Family and community was everything to them.

“Their boys meant the world to them. There’s nothing they wouldn’t do for them.”

Linda has been working at Bundaleer Lodge Nursing Home for over 15 years as a cleaner, assistant nurse and in recent years as an activity co ordinator.

Mr Hall, affectionately known as ‘Danny’, lived in the area his entire life and was as an interstate truck driver.

The couple had been together for over 30 years, had two sons and were living in a house that had been in Linda’s family for generations.

“Danny was quite the family man,” Ms Burke said.

“He was always out doing things with the boys.

“He really was a very dedicated and loved father and husband.

“They were also big on helping out in the local community.”

Linda has been in hospital since the accident with facial and pelvis factures and is still in a critical condition.

Steele suffered a broken arm and is currently staying with his brother Jamie Hall, who is 30 and works as a prison guard.

Ms Burke said they are hoping to help Linda cover the funeral costs.

“She is always going above and beyond and helping out where she can. On behalf of her work colleagues, it’s now our turn to get behind Linda and help her out,” she said.

“As we all know life still continues including expenses such as bills and now medical expenses.

“She still has a mortgage to pay off.

“Also her youngest son Steele will start school again soon and any help from donations will relieve some of the pressure her family are now faced with.”

Linda’s sister Kim is currently by her bedside in hospital and supporting her through such a tough time.

Ms Burke said Linda had multiple surgeries ahead of her and a long recovery journey, but also the support of a loving family and community.

“She’s still in shock and on a lot of pain medication,” she said.

“I don’t really think his death has quite sunk in yet.

“They’re trying to put off the funeral so that Linda can recover and be there in person.

“It’s going to be really tough times for Linda and her boys but they are strong and have each other, a close knit family and the community’s support.”
