The rugby league circus has finally finished

Talk now will be about where players are going, who wants a release to move to another club, and whether that will be now or at next season's end.

THE CIRCUS is officially now over. No I am not talking about Ashton's Circus with all the animals. The one I am talking about does have some of the same characters though. They call them clowns, whereas this Rugby League circus involved coaches and clubs.

It was never going to work from day one, and was only prolonged because someone - Wayne Bennett - didn't want to walk away. It was poorly handled by all parties and hopefully something we won't see again in our great game. While this circus is over, bringing the end to the coaching merry go round, the talk now will be about where players are going and who wants a release to move to another club - whether it be now or at next season's end. It's the part of the game that I really hate.

The next Norman?

AUSTRALIA has had some great golfers over the years; from Peter Thompson to Kel Nagle, onto probably our greatest in Greg Norman.

More recently we have marvelled at the exploits of Adam Scott, Jason Day and Marc Leishmann, but a new man is starting to rise to the top. He is not a big strong man, but he can hit the ball long distances and with his accuracy always puts his ball in the right position. Take these two attributes and mix it with a cool, calm temperament and you have a golfer that we will hear a lot more about over the years. All these characteristics were on display as he defended his Australian PGA title last weekend.

Hero of the week 1

AUSTRALIAN Netballer Liz Watson capped off a stellar year by being crowned Liz Ellis Diamond winner. The star Wing Attack also was recognised as the International Player of the Year.

Hero of the week 2

THE WBBL started last weekend with a bang and the ladies didn't disappoint with some very exciting action. If that's an appetiser then ratings will go through the roof.

Villain of the week 1

THE HORN/MUNDINE fight will go down as a big fizzier. People came to watch an entertaining fight between two great Aussies but one unfortunately was totally outclassed in quick time.

Villain of the week 2

FINA cannot be serious by threatening to ban swimmers from the Olympics if they compete in a new professional Swim League.

Swimmers are poorly paid so let them earn some money from the sport they love.

Did you know?

THE HIGHEST score ever in an ODI by a batsmen is 264 by Indian Rohit Sharma. This score consisted of 32 fours and nine sixes.

Bomber's Best

THE STREAK continued with both Sydney and Melbourne winning in the A-League. This week I have found a horse that is going place - it's in Sydney - Race 8, Horse 2, Sweet Deal @ $10.00.
