THE TEAM

1. Connor Rudman (Churchie)

Rudman was the batsman of the match in a low scoring clash against Terrace, scoring half his team’s runs (75, 159 balls) in a sensational tie. On a big field Rudman did plenty of running and on some grounds his innings would be worth 90-plus.

2. Matt Fielding (Nudgee)

Fielding will also be a gloveman this week, with his breezy 48 (36 balls) sending a positive message to his teammates in a traditional big match against an imposing The Southport School.

3 Jaxson Davies (TSS)

Right hander Davies lofted an amazing eight sixes while he also found the boundary rope on seven occasions. The Mudgeeraba Nerang junior was amazing.

4. Shravanth Prabhakar Pradeep Reddy (BBC)

A positive Reddy produced a match high 46 (50 balls) which proved crucial in giving BBC enough runs (177) to plant a seed of doubt into the BSHS batsmen. He shared a vital partnership with D’Arcy Satharasinghe (40) as BBC tried to offset the loss of batting leaders Armstrong, Robinson and Atley.

5. Harry Frost (Terrace)

Frost applied himself magnificent with a defiant 46 the backbone of Terrace’s run chase that almost pinched his side a come-from-behind win. He chipped away for 102 balls in an innings worth far more than just 46. He also picked up a wicket.

6. Dinek Kinigama (IGS)

Aside from the remarkable deeds of TSS’s batsman Davies (see earlier in the story), it was a round for bowlers, no more so than at Mills Oval where 16 wickets fell for 235. The top scorer in the match was Kinigama who moved to 36 from just 51 balls which was a significent innings given his side won.

7. Cameron Sinfield’s (TSS)

Nudgee’s Matt Fielding had taken on the TSS bowling but Sinfield restored order with his unchanged 10 overs of off spin that yielded 2-20. In the context of the game, it was a significant spell. He started Nudgee’s demise with a caught and bowled effort against the dangerous Fielding which halted Nudgee’s momentum.

8. Ashton Clark (BBC)

It was a remarkable debut performance under pressure by the Year 11 student. BSHS were still positioned for a victory when Clark kept his nerve, bowling straight and snaring batsmen bowled, LBW or stumped. He finished with a remarkable 6-13.

9. Jettison Emmerson (IGS)

Emmerson has started the season full of running. He appears in tremendous rhythm bowling his right arm medium pace outswing and his 4-17 unravelled the TGS innings last Saturday.

Henry Hillier.

10. Henry Hillier (Churchie)

In a low scoring match, Hiller’s double of 30 and 2-27 was gold, pure gold for Churchie. Hillier stuck around with opener Connor Rudman to lift Churchie to 151, the difference between a tie and a loss.

11. Samuel Jones (Terrace)

Take a bow Samuel Jones. Initially he helped put Terrace on top early with a bowling return of 3-27. Then along with Elliott Quinn, the boys ensured their side was engaged in the match of the weekend just when Terrace seemed dead and buried. They added 39 for the last wicket before Jones (22) was run out by Sam Drinnen going for the winning single.

Churchie’s fast bowling enforcer muscled his way through the Terrace batsmen with a haul of 4-17.

SPECIAL MENTIONS

Gurnoor Singh Randhawa (TGS)

He went close to making our Team of the Week for the second time, scoring 25 but also taking three quick wickets which gave TGS the sniff of an unlikely victory.

Tom Moloney (BSHS)

Left arm fast bowler Tom Moloney (10-0-30-3) led BSHS on a merry dance in the opening session against BBC. Moloney, left-arm orthodox slow bowler Meegasdeniya (10-0-34-2) and paceman Max Isoardi (10-0-34-2) were great for the visitors against a talented batting line-up.

Ishaan Sandhu (TSS)

It got lost in the hurly, burly of Davies’ century, but Year 9 student Sandhu produced a nice, steady 33 not out as an opener which meant Davies could blaze away uninhibited knowing wickets were not falling at the other end.

William Pamenter (IGS)

While IGS’s Emmerson made our Team of the Week for his 4-17, it must be emphasised IGS produced an outstanding team bowling performance around him. The standard was set early by William Pamenter (2-18) and behind him Joshua Lossberg (2-15), Luke Harper (2-30) and Jacob Cibulka (2-35) came to the party.

Jacob Bath (TSS)

He really is a grand allrounder, this fellow. While Bath missed out with the bat, he bowled 8-0-28-1 and also claimed three catches. You can’t keep him out of the game, can you?

Jack Burton (Nudgee)

Although Nudgee lost, Burton can take plenty of confidence away from the match and the next time he gets to 49, his aim will be to push deeper into the innings and get closer to 80, 90 or 100.

Dushyant Thaman (TSS)

The young spinner did late order damage to Nudgee by snaring 3-23, and also bowled with typical control. He is a great asset to the side.

7A-11A PLAYERS OF THE ROUND

11As: Henry Wiesener (52, 70 balls), and Riley Eckersley (70, 75 balls) fired for the visitors in a convincing victory over Nudgee.

IGS Colby Rudd makes the story for the second week in a row.

Churchie’s batsman Sean Hansen (62*) was in touch, but the top score was Gregory Terrace skipper Connor Reilly (76*).

BBC’s opener Andrew Klein (68, 44 balls) hit out.

In 10As cricket, Nudgee pair Jonty Philp (67) and Nudgee’s Corey Stroud (five wickets) starred.

At Churchie, opening batter Will Souter (89) was outstanding, as was and No. 3 Lachlan Moore (57*).

But Gregory Terrace No. 3 William Hawkins, who scored 82 in the first innings of the game, was also brilliant.

This was another big score, this time by Oliver Marschke (77) and Hamish Down (79).

9As highlights included:

A half century from Nudgee’s Byron Kratzmann and an economical four wicket haul by Reuben Rayner in a win over TSS.

Tom Yeo’s four wicket effort for TGS was outstanding, while Alby Galbraith (48*) scored crucial runs to see the home side secure a result.

Gregory Terrace’s Jackson McDonald scored 68 while Churchie’s Angus Peters also scored a century to wrap the game up quickly and come away dominant victors.

Max Isoardi bowled very well in his opening spell for BSHS’ First XI.
