After the 80 Episode 6

RUGBY league in Ipswich will have real meaning this weekend with all three A Grade matches serving a significant purpose.

At Daniels Park, the clash between West End and Goodna will be the annual Matthew "Kama'' O'Brien memorial game.

Matthew was a player/official with both clubs. He touched the hearts of everyone that he came in contact with. He was a halfback with a good football brain and a cheeky nature.

At Blue Ribbon Field (Brothers), it's the clash between Brothers and Norths who will be playing for the Matthew Dennis Trophy.

Matthew was a young premiership player with Brothers who was liked by all at the club and always put in 100% on the playing field.

The day will also double as reunion day celebrating both the 1998 and 2008 premiership teams.

Down the road at the Redbank Plains recreational fields is the clash between the Cobras and Fassifern. This has been dubbed "Take Care of your Pair'' Day.

This day is to bring awareness and raise funds for breast cancer with a huge pink theme on the cards.

This day is close to all players and supporters of the Cobras as two of their own start their fight.

Super series

WE now have two remaining and it's déjà vu with both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors making it to the NBA Final.

Both teams had to fight hard to win their respective conferences with seven games required before they advanced to the title showdown.

This will be the fourth straight year where these two champion teams will battle it out for basketball's greatest honour.

The Warriors will go in as hot favourites but you cannot discard the Cavaliers when they have a player called Lebron.

It is shaping up as a great series and let's hope it goes down to game 7 to decide the winner.

Quick thoughts

HERO of the week 1: Congratulations to the big man with the big voice in Terry Linde-berg for his award to celebrate 45 years of service to basketball. The title Mr Basketball is a true description.

Hero of the week 2: Huge congratulations to all rugby league fans who supported the Beanie for Brain Cancer round. It gets bigger every year and this year was no different with over $2.6 million raised.

Villain of the week: Another tennis major, another flop by Bernard Tomic. This player has talent but rarely shows it.

Bomber's best: Unfortunately the GWS Giants ruined my four-leg all up bet with another poor performance.

I am heading to the races in Sydney this week and like No 10 La Chica Bella in Race 6.

Did you know?

1. Basketball legend Wilt Chamberlain never fouled out of a game.

2. The referee is supplied with 36 footballs by the home team for every NFL game.
