Once considered a road trip destination from Brisbane, Ipswich has become a buyers paradise.

And it is not just first home buyers targeting the region because of its affordability, with cashed-up buyers upgrading to lifestyle suburbs in the region.

There are two suburbs in the Greater Ipswich region where the median house price is more than $800,000 – Brookwater ($899,000) and Corinda ($852,500).

Another four have median house prices north of $600,000.

NGU Real Estate agent Rob Dargusch said the whole local property market was “very solid”.

“Everything is receiving lots of buyer inquiry and really good prices,” he said.

“We’re finding 75 to 80 per cent of properties are receiving multiple offers in the first week of being listed.

“We mainly deal in the acreage side of things and buyers find this area is still affordable compared to other acreage areas in the Brisbane area.

“We’re seeing people downsizing from larger properties and upgrading to acreage from smaller blocks in suburban areas such as Springfield and Ripley.”

Mr Dargusch said that with more people working from home, they did not have to do the five-day commute and could live where they wanted.

Ipswich Real Estate agent Jason McNamara said the boost to the market had been a long time coming.

He said there were now more buyers than stock on the market.

“Most buyers, 90 per cent, are coming from out of town,” he said.

“They still work in Brisbane but they’re coming here for twice the house at half the price. “We’re seeing a lot of people are looking for high end character homes, something with street appeal or a bit of history.

“They’re also looking for the great lifestyle we have here and welcoming community.”

Here are five of the top listings on the market right now.
