Mayhem on the highway: Seven-vehicle pile-up on Warrego

LATEST: A 58-year-old Brisbane man has been airlifted to hospital with severe leg injuries after a seven-vehicle pile-up on the Warrego Hwy.
Emergency services converged on the Ipswich-bound side of the highway near Rusty's Oz Fuel service station at Hatton Vale about 1.30pm on Friday.
Laidley Senior Sergeant Jim McDonald said a light truck carrying gas bottles and vehicles stopping for roadworks had collided.
The truck driver, from Wynnum, was trapped in his truck and had to be extricated by Queensland Fire and emergency services officers aided by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics.
Snr Sgt McDonald said the man was airlifted by the Emergency Management Queensland helicopter to hospital, where he had emergency surgery.
Dangerous spot
IN March, a 33-year-old woman was killed as she drove to Gatton for blood tests after she slowed for roadworks on the Warrego Hwy.
That crash was on the westbound side of the highway at Hatton Vale about 8am on March 3.
The woman's car was crushed between a truck she was following and a B-double fuel tanker.
The B-double ran into the back of the car and drove it into the other truck. The woman, who was alone in the car, died at the scene.
She was from Hatton Vale and was on her way to Gatton for routine blood tests.
