Masters store to head new Bundamba site

DIY store Masters will be the major attraction of industrial park Citiswich stage two as developers seek tenants for the Bundamba site.

Mayor Paul Pisasale and Walker Corporation executive chairman Lang Walker cut the ribbon at Hoepner Rd, marking the official unveiling of the site.

It is expected Masters will be open for business in 12 months, adding some retail punch to the 350ha precinct.

Mr Walker has invested $40 million into the site; a long-term investment which he believes will reap dividends.

Masters will be joined by Hoepners Transport as the first tenants, Mr Walker says.

"Since Masters was announced we have had a lot of other inquiries. We hope to generate interest off the volume of shoppers that come to Masters," he said.

Mr Walker said the site's location between the Ipswich Motorway and Cunningham Highway was perfect.

Mayor Paul Pisasale said Ipswich held 43% of the industrial land in south-east Queensland.

"Every city that hasn't supported development has gone backwards," he said.

Cr Pisasale said the development would create thousands of jobs from construction right through to the finished product.

A Masters spokeswoman said the construction of the Masters store would take 12 months.

"The large format store will stock over 40,000 product lines from whitegoods, garden, paint, hardware and complete DIY kitchens," she said.

"Masters stores are a great destination for the whole family to shop, with kids' workshops on weekends and trained staff to assist customers.

"The Masters store will create approximately 200 jobs during construction and a further 180 new positions available for the local community once the store has opened."
